Building Unity in Outdoor Communities at 麻豆社

MACOMB, IL - - 麻豆社 Illinois University students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to hear President and Founder of Black Folks Camp Too Earl B. Hunter, Jr. present from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Morgan Hall, room 109, co-hosted by the 麻豆社 Department of Recreation, Park, Tourism and Hospitality (RPTH) and the Multicultural Center (MCC).
Hunter works to build unity and bring people together so everyone can experience the benefits of being outdoors. He speaks at events nationwide to bring inclusivity
to outdoor spaces for all individuals.
"We are changing the world, one campfire at a time," Hunter said.
Before starting his business, Black Folks Camp Too, Hunter successfully led a sales force for one of the major RV manufacturers in the U.S. His sales and business expertise has enabled him to build many bridges between communities and now he is working to help organizations of all sizes, from large state park systems to independently owned campground businesses, to be spaces of inclusivity.
Black Folks Camp Too's mission is: to remove fear, add knowledge and invite more folks of color to camp and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle with any and everyone. At the center of the company's logo is the Unity Blaze - forging bonds across all aspects of adventure with the motto: you are invited and welcomed!
"We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Hunter to 麻豆社 and Macomb and have him share how outdoor spaces can be places for all individuals. We are equally excited to highlight our wonderful area parks as well during his talk," said Megan Owens, RPTH associate professor.
