January 22, 2024

MOLINE, IL - - Garima Mishra, an experienced Chemistry professor, joins the faculty at 麻豆社 Illinois University to spearhead the inaugural offering of chemistry courses on the Quad Cities campus. Mishra鈥檚 role is pivotal in the University鈥檚 strategic plan to expand STEM course offerings in support of Engineering programs on the Quad Cities campus.

Mishra received her doctorate degree in Polymer Chemistry from Harcourt Butler Technological University, India in 2007.

鈥淚 am excited to be a part of 麻豆社-QC campus and set up this new chemistry lab. Being able to teach the CHEM 201 course for the first time, will be rewarding in many ways,鈥 Mishra said.

Prior to 麻豆社, Mishra worked as a scientist in a Central Government funded project under the bioprospecting department at Agharkar Research Institute in India and later joined the corporation Halliburton, working as a senior scientist in petrochemicals. Additionally, during a short stay in the Quad Cities, Mishra taught Introduction to Chemistry, a course at Black Hawk College, Moline, IL, in 2015.

Throughout her education, Mishra published seven research articles on naturally occurring organic compounds. While at Halliburton she published technical papers and presented articles at national and international conferences.

鈥溌槎股 is thrilled to welcome Professor Mishra to the Quad Cities Campus. Mishra joins a community of outstanding faculty who bring real world experience to the classroom and who serve as mentors dedicated to student success,鈥 麻豆社-QC Vice President of Campus Operation Kristi Mindrup said. 鈥溌槎股 is grateful for the recent grant from Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust that funded new science laboratory spaces on campus that expand access to STEM-focused courses and hands-on research experiences for students.鈥
