麻豆社 School of Ag & the Office of Student Engagement to Host Family Day BBQ on Sept. 28

MACOMB, IL - - Families can enjoy a day filled with food, farming, football and barbecue to celebrate Family Day on Saturday, September 28. The 麻豆社 Illinois University School of Agriculture and the Office of Student Engagement will host a tailgate on 麻豆社 Family Day ahead of the football team鈥檚 first home game of the season. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. during tailgating in Q-Lot.
The event is highlighted by a barbecue ribs and brisket competition, where guests can buy tickets to taste the entries. Each team will also feature and serve a people鈥檚 choice item that can be taste-tested. Tasting tickets are $4 each, two for $6 or four for $10. Tickets and packages that include event t-shirts and tickets for the tasting and football game, can be found at wiu.edu/familyday. This year鈥檚 t-shirts will be purple and feature a fun design.
Food will be served while supplies last. Additionally, live music by the Rock鈥檔 Papas, a bags tournament and activities for the whole family will be available. A variety of boutiques and vendors for attendees to browse will be available. The event will wrap up at 5:30 p.m. after awards are presented.
This year鈥檚 event is sponsored by Clock Tower Community Bank, a division of Morton Community Bank, Compeer Financial, the Illinois Farm Bureau, the McDonough County Farm Bureau, Pepsi, Smithfield, Sodexo and the Tri-County Cattlemen鈥檚 Association.
