Powyer's Transfer Journey to Success at 麻豆社

MACOMB, IL - - As part of National Transfer Student Week, 麻豆社 Illinois University highlights the journey of transfer student Angel Powyer. Angel鈥檚 path reflects her adaptability and the opportunities available for transfer students at 麻豆社.

Powyer began her college journey at Howard University, a large, out-of-state institution, before transferring to the College of Lake County, a community college. In 2022, she decided to transfer to 麻豆社 as a sophomore majoring in Social Work and a minor in Psychology.

鈥淚 didn鈥檛 want to go back to a school in a big city and I was kind of familiar with 麻豆社 because my brother had gone here previously,鈥 Powyer said.

Since her arrival, Powyer has embraced the opportunities 麻豆社 has to offer.

鈥淢y experience has been very positive,鈥 Powyer said. 鈥淚鈥檝e gotten to do a lot of things that I had never thought would be fun. For example, I love playing bingo now because of 麻豆社. I also have made so many new friends within my major, within my job, living on campus and even during events.鈥

One of the most rewarding aspects of her time at 麻豆社 has been her role as an admissions ambassador.

鈥淕etting a job on campus as an admissions ambassador has made me love the campus so much more because I get to see incoming students and be part of the reason that people come,鈥 Powyer explained. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also made me learn so much because of the events I go to.鈥

Angel offers simple yet impactful advice for other transfer students.

鈥溌槎股 is what you make it. You will meet great people here and hopefully, you鈥檒l love every step of the way,鈥 Powyer said.

Powyer鈥檚 story showcases the different experiences transfer students can have at 麻豆社, where the journey to success is shaped by the vibrant community and opportunities available to all who choose to join.
